Hello everyone! Welcome to the information page for our wedding. Here you'll find everything you need to know for our upcoming nuptials in September. If there's anything you'd like to ask us, please drop us an email. Happy browsing! Holly and Costa x
The Church
The church we are getting married in is called the Church of the Twelve Apostles - a Greek Orthodox church in Brookmans Park, Hertfordshire (near Hatfield). Details of how to get there can be found in the 'travel' section, but here is a map to quickly show you the location in the immediate area.
There will be a wedding immediately before ours, so please do not arrive too early or you might be waiting outside for a while!

The Reception
Our reception venue is Sopwell House, only 1 mile from St Albans. It is a beautiful Georgian hotel and spa, complete with lush gardens, that was once the stately home of Lord Mountbatten.

Travel - important! Please read!
For those of you not driving, the easiest way to get to the church is by train. The nearest station is Brookmans Park, 1.6 miles away. Trains leave Kings Cross for Brookmans Park every half hour, and it's a 30 minute journey.
If you want to book a taxi to take you from the station to the church, here are some useful numbers (it might be worth trying to coordinate with fellow guests to save on taxi journeys):

Hilltop Taxis 01707 271266
CJ Cars 01707 859700
Simons Cabs 01707 251500
Diamond Taxis 01707 266646
R&R Byng Cars 01707 665060
For those of you who are driving, there will be limited parking in the church car park (we want this to be clear for our wedding party cars please!). Guests are advised to park along Kentish Lane, but not on both sides of the road. Parking close to or at the junction between Kentish Lane and Woodfield Lane is not allowed. Please repect the church's relations with its neighbours!
Travel to the reception venue
For those of you not driving, we will be hiring a bus to transport you from the church to the reception. We will need to know how many of you want to do this, so please let us know asap or you will not have a seat on the bus!
For those of you who are driving, it is an easy 9 mile drive (pretty much parallel to the M25, through nice countryside). For your route please enter the following postcodes into any route finder (www.theaa.com is a good one): AL9 6NG to AL1 2HQ
Travel back from Sopwell House

Gift list/presents
We will not be having a standard gift list. Instead, following the traditional Greek practice, guests are invited to pin notes of money onto the bride and groom's outfits (called "ploumisma" in Greek), as a gesture of good wealth/happiness for the couple's future life together. This is a fun, traditional part of the wedding day, which happens after the dinner (generally after the first dance).
If you would prefer, you are welcome to give a card in an envelope to the Best Man on the night.
Alternatively, we would be very appreciative of gift vouchers from John Lewis.
